The fundamental scientific problem of the research is to identify the transformation mechanisms of the communicative-
cultural memory and ways of its transmission to the younger (“digital”) generation of Russians in the digitalisation age, which implies a transition from the analogue form of transmission and perception of information in mass and social media to the digital one.
At present, there is a clear social need for the transmission of communicative-cultural memory of the older (“analogue”)
generation in the digital environment. This transmission determines the possibility of perception of communicative-cultural memory units by the “digital” generation in the process of its socialisation and understanding of cultural identity.
Communicative-cultural memory of generations can be formulated as a set of the most important cultural signs which
facilitate the identification with cultural and historical community, with country. They also support the formation of its
personal significance for individual identity. At the same time, the models of the communicative-cultural memory
formationby “analogue” and “digital” generations in different aspects do not coincide. It leads to communication failures and social deformations.
The research methodology involves the examination of the transformation mechanisms of communicative-cultural memory, which aretypical for two generations; comparison of these methods, based on the data of sociological and discursive analysis; elaboration and approbation of methods for transmitting communicative-cultural memory from the “analogue” generation to the “digital” one.
The development of this fundamental problem is interdisciplinary and includes:
The hypothesis of the research: on the basis of the study of the communicative-cultural memory transformation ways, which are characteristic forthe “analogue” and “digital” generations, a model of effective transmission of the communicative-cultural memory will be created and tested on the digital generation. This model will involve the use of relevant for young people communicative practices and the creation of digital mass and social media content on their basis.
The modelling of the transformation mechanisms of the communicative-cultural memory by the “analogue” and “digital” generations is scientifically significant. Comparison of these mechanisms makes it possible to identify generational priorities in the understanding of cultural identity, to identify significant differences in the understanding of these priorities and to establish the causes of problems of communicative-cultural memory transmission from one generation to another.
As a result of the project, the following will be achieved:
At the end of the research, a collective monograph and a dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Science will be prepared.
The result of the work will include the participation of the project manager and project participants in scientific conferences and a range of scientific publications (at least 46) covering the project’s work, including the publication of 16 articles on the project in peer-reviewed journals from the list of the Higher Attestation Commission, 20 publications of the Russian Science Citation Index, preparation of 10 articles for journals indexed by Scopus and WoS.
The developed model of social media communication and the identified principles of intergenerational transmission of communicative-cultural memory can be used in the study of similar social processes in the countries of near and far abroad. The stated problem has not only scientific, but also methodological significance, because the study involves the
development of reasoned recommendations for the creation and transformation of digital mass and social media content in accordance with current communicative practices and the needs of the digital generation.
Projects of this kind in that interdisciplinary form and scale, which are offered by the research team, have not been
implemented in Russian practice yet, and the results which the research team intends to get during the project are not
presented in the world of media communication. The results obtained on the basis of the analysis of wide material are
extremely in demand for the development of modern media communications, especially in the context of significant
intergenerational and interstate distortion of facts which are relevant for the communicative-cultural memory. The proposed study is large-scale and relevant for studying of the features of media communication not only in the Russian Federation, but also in a large number of other countries.
